Sometimes a quote just takes your breath away. One day I hope to write as good as her.
“You must not fear, hold back, count or be a miser with your thoughts and feelings. It is also true that creation comes from an overflow, so you have to learn to intake, to imbibe, to nourish yourself and not be afraid of fullness. The fullness is like a tidal wave which then carries you, sweeps you into experience and into writing. Permit yourself to flow and overflow, allow for the rise in temperature, all the expansions and intensifications. Something is always born of excess: great art was born of great terrors, great loneliness, great inhibitions, instabilities, and it always balances them.”
Anaïs Nin in The Diary of Anais Nin, Vol. 4: 1944-1947
“Some moments are nice, some are nicer, some are even worth writing about.”
― Charles Bukowski
Today was a magical day! Last day of the summer and I saw a space shuttle fly over me.
I was driving from LAX towards downtown Los Angeles and saw Endeavor fly over.
I was silent when it happened. It was one of those moments when you become in
awe with humanity and what we can achieve. I was one of those moments that you were
waiting for a long time but you didn’t know you were waiting for it till it happened.
It felt like coming “home” somewhere. We humans can accomplish so much – we just have
to take that first step and just go for it. Nothing was done in a day. Everything is
done little by little till it becomes big enough to inspire humanity.
I am still in awe and appreciate this special moment. It was a moment worth writing about.
We can all go see Endeavor starting Oct 30th in Downtown Los Angeles at the science museum.
I encourage you all to do that and see some history. Let the magic begin!
We all have a big treasure chest inside ourselves. We can choose from different emotions
depending on the situations we encounter. It is easy to be reactive and let our emotions
be like an uncontrolled missile. But what if like in Chemistry we can choose the
right ingredients wisely? This would be more beneficial to us and others.
One of my favorite poems about the three treasures is in the Tao Te Ching. Here it is.
“I have just three things to teach:
simplicity, patience, compassion.
These three are your greatest treasures.
Simple in actions and in thoughts,
you return to the source of being.
Patient with both friends and enemies,
you accord with the way things are.
Compassionate toward yourself,
you reconcile all beings in the world”
